He has been active in commercial real estate for over 30 yrs in sales, leasing and development of shopping centers and industrial space. His clients include many of the larger institutional companies located in his market.
Doug has served in many capacities within the real estate community including 2001 President of the Virginia State Association of REALTORS®. He was 1997 President of the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS® and was named its REALTOR® of The Year in 2000. Doug was also very instrumental in establishing the Commercial Advisory Council for the Virginia Association of REALTORS® and served as its initial Chairman during 1996-97. Doug has participated in Virginia’s 2004 Economic Development Task Force, and the Virginia Real Estate Board’s Commercial Licensing Law. He has also been very active in the Virginia CCIM Chapter and served as its 2000 President.
On a national level, Doug was elected President of the CCIM Institute Education Foundation in 2005. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of ARES (American Real Estate Society) as well as the Education Foundation. He has been active within the CCIM Institute having served on the Board of Directors and various committees. Doug also has also served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of REALTORS®.
Doug is currently a Senior Instructor for the CCIM Institute’s CI 102 and 104 courses, two of the accredited courses needed to obtain the prestigious designation, and was honored as the 102 Instructor of the year in 2001 and 2002. He was recognized as Instructor of the Year for CI 101 in 2007. He has taught throughout the United States; Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia; Warsaw, Poland; London, England; and most recently, Cairo, Egypt.

Jim has been active in real estate sales and investing for over 30 years. He received his broker’s license in 1975, and was an owner of Progress Realty early in his career. He attended the University of Virginia and completed training at the Graduate Investment Training Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. Jim is a past president of a regional securities firm and a Registered Financial Principal.
Jim has been active within the field of law enforcement, having graduated from the Central Police Training School for the Virginia State Police in Richmond, Virginia. He is also a graduate of the Roanoke Police Academy.

1979 to 1982: Real Estate Salesman’s License. Managed 800 +/- apartments in 16 complexes. Engaged primarily in investment property sales, emphasis on apartments.
1982 to Present: Real Estate Broker’s License. Commercial Real Estate Seller and Buyer Representation. Real Estate Investment Consulting and Developer Site Searches. Co-coordinator and Manager for three residential subdivision developments - two successfully sold out, Phase II of the third recently completed.
1995 to Present: Sawyer Properties, Inc. Associate Broker.
Completed sales include apartment complexes, shopping centers, industrial buildings and tracts, timber tracts, office/retail buildings, parking lots and other income producing property.
Leasing experience includes both tenant and owner/landlord representation.
Experience with IRS 1031 exchanges and renovation projects of historic properties for investment tax credits.

Bill specializes in the sale and leasing of
small to midsize office, warehouse and flex space. His background in
commercial insurance and his experience in commercial real estate help
him provide a high level of professional service to clients.
As a
former owner/operator of a small business here in Roanoke, Bill enjoys
working with local business owners. Active in Kiwanis, he is past
president of both the Kiwanis Club and the Kiwanis Foundation of
Roanoke. He is a current member of the board of the Foundation.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, Bill served as an officer on a destroyer in Vietnam.
